At risk of sounding uneducated, can someone please tell me what is a
“cycle” within the context of the monit config?
For example, if it states…
if 20 restarts in 20 cycles then timeout
so that means it restarts every cycle 20 times consecutively - but
what is a cycle?
a unit of time?

I think that cycle is the amount of time defined by “set daemon”
directive in /etc/monitrc.
Someone that can confirm it?
Regards!

You are correct sir. One cycle is equal to the number of seconds in
the set daemon config options. 30 or 60 seconds is a good interval.

By the way, Ezra, you’re going to post a note here once your book comes
out, right? Definitely looking forward to it!
