TIOBE and ruby

Hey,

Not that anyone thinks that TIOBE is a good metric - they probably
use a mix of black voodoo magic and sacrifices of chicken to throw
their bones in order to come to result.

But ruby has been “dropping” on TIOBE (to rank 20) and I wonder.

Even if TIOBE uses black voodoo magic to come to their result,
perhaps there is some other trend that explains why ruby would
appear to be less popular?

I am using ruby fine since like +10 years and don’t see why I’d
just switch to use something else or anything, but perhaps new
folks these days flock to use something else? Even PHP is
still popular :\ :\

it’s seem that many people have migrate to javascript/node.js,
the reason is certainly the performances of V8 engine

Well, the traffic volume here and on ruby-talk certainly matches the
trend. Usenet’s comp.lang.ruby is dead for quite a while now.
