[JOB] Director of Engineering - Greenwich, CT - 150-170k

This is a full time, on-site, salaried Director of Engineering position
located in Greenwich, CT paying $150,000 to $170,000 depending on
experience + benefits. No telecommuting allowed. US Citizens or Green

Stable, professional company with tremendous market reach, based in
Greenwich CT. The Hands-on Director of Engineering will report directly
to the CTO manage all aspects of software development including
architecture and design, code development, implementation, QA and direct
management responsibility for a team of 6-8 full time and contract
developers. Must have experience developing web applications using Ruby
on Rails and willing and able to write code. Expectation is that this
role will spend approximately 60% of his/her time managing the team and
40% developing software.

Duties:

  • Develops custom solutions and applications in Ruby on Rails
  • Performs software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis,
    software review and system risk analysis
  • Oversees and manages team of 6-8 developers. Provides assignments,
    prioritizes tasks, and works closely with developers to ensure business
    objectives are being met
  • Demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, code
    comments and clear code
  • Prepares and installs solutions to problems after analysis is complete
  • Works closely with internal business leadership and external clients
    to define requirements and create solutions
  • Improves operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending
    changes to policies and procedures
  • Evaluates, identifies and implements new technologies
  • Architects solutions to maximize scalability, performance and security

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of general web development experience and 2+ years of Ruby on
    Rails experience required
  • 2+ years experience as team lead or manager of software developers
  • Excellent understanding of the MVC architecture and OOP design and
    principles
  • Strong background in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Comfortable with SQL
  • Experience with bug tracking and version control software
  • Good communication skills necessary, both spoken and written
  • Comfortable contributing and debating in a friendly team environment
