Is it possible to use IronRuby to write apps for Windows Phone, Surface,
and/or Windows 8 Metro?
Are there sample programs for this?

It used to be possible in some kind of way on WP7. Not sure what
happened
and how will it work on WP8 or later.

was
written more than 3 years ago, so I’m sure it wouldn’t work as is).
There is the Iron7 app for WP (
Microsoft Apps)
which lets you write ruby scripts on the phone via IronRuby. I’m not
sure
if this is open-source but at least we can be confident that IronRuby
does
work on WP
