Multiple vhosts with rails sites with apache+mongrel a better way?

Hi as of now I have two sites each using one port 8080 and 8081 under
mongrel
and apache as the front… works ok but as a good network engineer I have
to have tons of
ports open, is uggly, before I can even think about having more rails
sites on our servers I will like
to know of a way of just having a apache+mongrel with out having to have
one open port for each site…
if I have 100 I dont want to have 100 open ports even if is internal on
loopback 127.0.0.1 it looks horrible when I
try to manage the box with any network tool. I cant wait for the day I
can just use apache like with mod_php and mod_perl, is a pain to have to
use Another server in the back just for rails.
thanks in advance for the advice.

Look into mod_rails aka passenger by phusion.

I use it over mongrel out of pure simplicity.
