I am new to the rails. After executing InstantRails, I see that it is
trying to start, but I get these warnings regarding existing
installations. In early Apache, I could just stop my IIS and apache
would start on port 80. With rails it does not happen[I again get the
warning from rails]. How and where do I make the changes so that I can
runs rails?

Even the zip file is massive at 38MB. To move the file from oen location
to another it took a very long time. I know tht it could be run from
anywhere, but I had other considerations. However, the isntallation
looks painless.

I also a newby in the rails and I’ve got the same problem. With the
apache server everything went fine. But with MySQL i’ve got the same
error message:
MySql : MySQL port (3306) is used by “” (mysqld-nt.exe) !
Please try posting this to the main Rails list for the attention of
InstantRails developers. This list is exclusively for the discussion
of the Engines plugin, and its sister list (engine users) for people
having issues using engines specifically.

Hi Daniel:
Please discard my previous note. As I said, I repeat the installation
was painless. I also suggest that you download and unzip to a directory
whose name does not have white spaces. C:\ is good but “C:\Documetns and
folders” is not.
Click on the rails icon(a red I-section) and you get the messages, for
each of apache and mysql. Go to IIS and stop, or from control panel’s
services also you can stop. Now you will see that apache is
working(traffic light is green). You may also visit the corresponding
folders and start the service.
