If so, I would suggest to make announcements there and not here anymore,
though your project is somehow related to jruby.

aware.
This ML is an important channel for young JRuby projects trying to get
traction,
and the “cost” of ANNs to ML readers is just about nil. Don’t try to
stifle JRuby
related ANNs on the primary JRuby ML

Sorry for posting on JRuby list. Ive done so as Ive seen some
announcements in this list such as Ruboto and AR-JDBC. I dont have a
mailing list for MDArray, but it is actually a good idea. Ill try and
set
a list for it.

Deleting the original ANN is not enough, especially if there are
replies.
IMO for a small project its own mailling is just overkill and then the
jruby-user list could be the right place for announcements unless it is
a
bugfix release I would say.
I would say that unless they are announcing once a week (e.g. a lot) we
are
such a low volume list that this is fine. For many users, this is
probably
the most likely place for them to find out about these projects. Plus
new
users join and leave the list so the only first time announce will not
really work.
If you happen to use gmail you can mute a thread. Not sure if other
mail
tools have a feature like that. You could also filter on [ANN] but then
you would miss our jruby release announcements without making it a big
complicated.

True.
I was under the feeling that this particular project was making more ANN
that jruby itself. Maybe I’m wrong.
My purpose is not against mdarray: I feel this mailing list should focus
on
promoting jruby and derived products, and many times I saw emails more
related to rails than jruby.
