Project Description:The project is a web based application, whereby
users can search for their favorite destinations using Google maps.
These destinations will then be saved in an online database,
individual to each user. The destinations can then be downloaded to an
SD memory card. Currently we have done all the design work for the
application and will shortly begin creating html templates for the web
application.
Required Knowledge:
Ruby on Rails, Linux
• Web Services
• MySQL
• XHTML/CSS
• Javascript
It would be helpful if you had experience with……
• Previous experience using the Google Maps API. This will include
connectivity between the backend database and the front end Google
maps interface. (Maps, Photos, Visualization, Search)
• User Registry Creation (logins, account creation & management. This
will include personal information and user preferences, etc.)
• AJAX / Javascript knowledge, as we intend to have a ‘Star’ rating
system in place that will allow users to rate their favorite
destinations (Saved to the database.)
• EXIF Image Metadata
• Dynamic Photo Upload and Manipulation
• Github.com project collaboration
• EngineYard (ROR Hosting)
• Some Adobe Actionscript 3.0 skills would be a plus. (Not essential)
